4th of July

We had our Nebraska/Canada family coming the weekend after the 4th of July, so we stayed home this year.  We didn't realize we had such a fun neighborhood during the 4th of July!
And I'm sure they didn't realize what they were getting when we moved in.
After going to a friend's rocket launching (he does this every year- it might become a yearly "thing" for us!)...

we invited the whole street to join us for a 4th of July parade around the block.  We decorated our wagons, bikes, scooters, and even a go-cart, and went walking around the block.

We came back to our house with other neighbors and shot off our own fireworks in the street.  Once the night time sky hit we all were amazed at how much people around us spent on fireworks!  There were three big "shows" within 5 blocks that we just stood out in the street watching.  I don't know if people went to the town fireworks show, but they didn't need to if they lived around us!

While eating brownies and making floats, we made new friends (teachers that work at the high school- someone to help keep an eye on our new daughter coming in August!) and visited with some old friends.  It was a fun night!

I'm guessing one of the shows you could see was from the party in the Mills cul-de-sac. One of their neighbors puts on a huge, awesome show each year! It's gotten more impressive every year!

I don't know where the Mills live. But, the block right behind us had at least 50 people with their chairs out in the streets and driveways. Pretty impressive!

Thank you for coming out for the rockets! It would make it much sweeter for ALL the girls in our family if you would make it a new annual tradition :)

I LOVE the parade around your block! We may have to check it out next year.
