I know the weekend isn't over, but I've put together a recap from this weekend (Friday night/Saturday) so far.
10. After school I got to take off my high heeled boots that I haven't worn since Winter. My feet were SORE! Quite the workout.
9. Trey is on the breathing machine several times a day right now, so I got a quick power nap while he used the ducky mask and watched Thomas.
8. Pizza arrived with Gracie, Claire, and Tessa for supper. They ate two bites of pizza, no watermelon, and no carrots. And then were ready to play. Such excitement- who has time to eat!?!?!
7. The kids made a Carnival in the front yard. The weather was perfect. But, they had no customers. Oh well- it was fun to set up!
6. Family Movie Night with the twins. Realized I had no popcorn- my movie snacks were disappointing. Note to self- check the popcorn supply BEFORE inviting friends over for movie night.
5. Daughters fighting... blah. Jada had the "annoying little sister" syndrome. However, they were reminded "everyone is included." Gracie didn't think that was fair.
4. Gymnastic this morning. Gracie stayed to watch Jada. I took Trey and went to some garage sales. It didn't feel right. I don't think I'll do that again. But, I got some GREAT deals. Found something I had when I was little. Now, my girls get to use it. SCORE!
3. The kids and I tried a shopping trip to Wichita today. Everyone could hear where we were in the stores we went in. Trey needs a nickname that means "loud!" The only relaxing time I got was at the pizza place where we sat in front of the t.v. Kids watching and eating. Me, eating in silence. No one fighting.
2. This evening we cleaned out the girls closet, and I started on the basement. We are having a MOVING SALE this weekend- if we have enough to sell. HA! So exciting. Three weeks away...
1. Friday night, Amy came over after the kids went to sleep. I didn't have popcorn or anything yummy. She saved the day- blizzards! We were going to watch a movie, but of course we ended up talking for over two hours. We had a lot to catch up on! By the time the movie ended it was 2:30 a.m.!

more random?
Random.
Because that's how my brain thinks right now.
I'm so overwhelmed with work right now.
Headache.
My son has pneumonia. If you saw him this evening you wouldn't know he was the lethargic, non-emotional, "I don't like food" boy that clung to me for two hours at the doctor's office today. I got worried about the fact that I only changed two diapers yesterday and realized he might be getting dehydrated so I offered anything and everything for breakfast. He turned down popsicles. POPSICLES people!
During our KC Anniversary date we went to Marshalls. I bought a purse. I took the stitching out on one of the straps because I didn't think it belonged there. I ended up making it into a ghetto purse. Tried to pin it in place and hide the pin. It worked for a while, but then the pin got undone and as I pulled the purse up onto my shoulder yesterday, the pointy part scratched up my arm. I said a 2nd grade cuss word- "Stupid" purse.
Hoping this week is full of fun pictures and happier blog posts.

A mystery solved
There is a monster living in this house.
He does things like THIS --->
Alllllllllll the way down the halllllll.
And THERE he is!
The monster.
Who eats all of our things with his puppy teeth.
Shoes. Clothes. Toys.
And now, add couch to the list.
Don't let his cuteness get the best of you.
It did me.
And, now I have 5 less pair of shoes to show for it.

Random Me
1. Jada announced at supper this week that when she gets married she's going to go to the State Fair and get a butterfly, flower, and heart painted on her cheek.
2. We're back in the swing of Fall things: Hide-n-Seek at church on Wednesday nights, Girl Scouts on Thursdays, Gymnastics on Saturdays. Busy, busy.
3. I have a student who has a hard time with language- English and Spanish. He didn't know what a bicycle was the other day. He has one at home. He rides it after school, but when I asked him about HIS bicycle he told me he doesn't know what that is. Poor kid. Life at school must be so confusing for him.
4. Our Fall tv shows start this next week! I know that sounds lame, but it's our relaxing time of the day.
5. The high temperature was a glorious 58 degrees today. I fell in love with the weather again today...
6. I love how my daughters claim they don't learn anything new in school each evening at supper, but yet still love it, still have new songs to sing (from school), and new stories to tell about what went on at school that day.
New things happening here. More to tell later.
For now, that's all.

Never Forget.
That's what I've been hearing all day.
I don't think I could forget.
It was my first year of teaching.
I taught third grade.
During a time when I had a free moment, I walked up to the secretaries office to do something and noticed they had two tv's going behind them, and several people were watching something I've never forgotten since.
I watched a burning building and thought to myself, "Where are the twin towers?" (Guess I needed to pay more attention in geography class?) I immediately knew this was bad, but had no idea how this would affect me.
While I didn't know anyone who died that day, I know it affected the way I thought about my life, and others I care(d) about. A year later I was pregnant with Gracie, and had VERY weird dreams about war and bombs, and giving birth to Kermit the Frog who I kept in a backpack when I rode on my motorcycle.
I've loved seeing all the American flags on t.v. today at many memorial services throughout the day. I'm proud of our country. It feels like we're more united.
I'm sad for those who lost loved ones. And I think this gives us a great opportunity to teach peace to others. Pastor Brad talked about this today. He hit it right on the mark.
Love others.
Pray for enemies.
Show peace.

catching up
Have you ever fed a lemur by hand?
Have you ever been this close to a tiger?
(I did not use zoom on my camera.)
Have you ever been this close to a kangaroo?
These are the only pictures I got worthy of putting on the blog.
But, how cool is this zoo?
It's about 45 minutes away, in the middle of nowhere. And it was sooo fun to be RIGHT THERE with the animals!

Date Night
Ok, so that title is a little misleading.
We were SUPPOSED to have a date night. The babysitter didn't work out. So, we told the kids we would take them with us on our date night. We had planned to eat Mexican food, and then go to All Star Sports for putt-putt.
Mexican food with our kids was a disaster.
We had comments like,
"This isn't what I thought it would be."
"The cheese is too spicy."
"When are we going to the game place?"
Trey, however, cracked up the waiters by singing, "Who Let the Dogs Out!?"- while they were putting in their orders at the computer right by our table. When we were walking out the door, one of them asked Trey who let the dogs out, but he got shy.
After supper, we went to All Star Sports, and everyone had such a great time. We golfed (or "gulfed" according to one of our kids), played tons of arcade games, and got cheap toys from the tickets!
Here are a few pictures of our buddinggolfers gulfers.
We didn't leave until close to 10:00 p.m.
Gracie claimed it was the "BEST DAY EVER!"
She must have forgotten about supper. HA!
Oh well. Kinda glad the babysitter thing didn't work out.
It was fun to spend the evening together.
