A few of my favorite (Canada vacation) things

1.  going out for ice cream (I have a serious addiction.  Help... me...), and then going to the water front to climb on the rocks down by the water.
 2.  laser beams to help us get to where we're going
3.  Mary of the World Cathedral (amazingly beautiful inside).
4.  cousin time!!!

5.  Toys that even the "big kids" can play with!

eating

I'm pretty sure that's all we've done here.
Eat.
And eat.

Some One of us wasn't so sure about this
Canadian food when we got here.
You know- the spaghetti, hotdogs, french fries.
 And then there's Jada.
Oh, Jada.
I'm not sure she can eat anything
without getting the whole face involved.

But, what else is more fun than eating... on vacation... with your cousins?

on the road again...

We headed to last Montreal last Saturday.
8 hours the first night.
15 hours the second day.

23 hours with 10 people.
2 vehicles.

crazy?
maybe.
But the kids were FANTASTIC!

Crossing the border was... interesting.
Roy and Chad were yelled at for
having the camera on, wearing sunglasses,
and forgetting that the gift we brought was
in the car behind us.  Amanda and Kara, of
course, didn't know we had said that, so when
they were asked if there any gifts and said
no, they were searched.  oops!
Here are a few pictures of the bridge to Canada.
More to come tomorrow.
We're having a great time here!

bread + milk

"What's for dinner, mom?"
"Bread and Milk."
"Seriously?"
"YES!"
Ok, yeah, maybe not dinner.
But, definitely a craft.
Why?
Because it's fun, and this bread won't
be good two weeks from now.

Here are the steps:
1.  Find (or cut) small cups.
2.  Fill with milk.
3.  Drop in food coloring.
4.  Collect new paintbrushes and mix.

 5.  "Paint" on circle bread.

6.  Throw it in the toaster to make the colors more vivid.
7.  Eat!

country life

Mom and Dad built a house last summer in the middle of a wheat field.  Which reminds me- I really need to get a picture next summer of the wheat field when it's just about harvest time.  It's so pretty.

Mom always has the back porch area (of any house she's living in) so cozy.  It just draws me out there.  Tonight she had out the pool and bubbles.  And even though it was SO hot out there, we sat outside for quite a while and sweat, and played, and sweat some more, and did bubbles, and rode bikes, and sweat some more.

Grandma and Grandpa Schrag came over for supper.
I (heart) my grandparents.

The kids and Nana did some of this...
Then, the girls baptized each other in the pool.
 Grandma Schrag and me
The guys lounging...

Thanks for a fun evening, Mom and Dad!

The Hat

Jada's always wanted to be like her big sister.
So, if Gracie read at age 4, then it would only be fitting that Jada would too, right?

 RIGHT!

Jada read her first book today.
The whole thing!
By herself!
We (mostly Chad) helped her sound out a lot of words.
But, she did the reading part of it.
SO proud of Jada tonight!

Here are a few pages she read.
